We have been on several self catering holidays in France over the last few years but Terres de la Font ranks at the top of the list with the very best of them.....from the well laid out garden areas to the interior design and top quality furnishings and equipment. We found La Bastide to be a good centre from which to explore the surroundings...majestic Mont Ventoux, spectacular Gorges d'Ardeche, history and culture in Avignon and Nimes and our favourite Uzès. All in all an excellent week's holiday.

This has been our fourth visit to La Bastide d'Engras....drawn back once again by the peaceful comfort of this lovely house. We have had a relaxing couple of weeks and are still finding new places to visit. Many thanks to Mary and Philip for their warm welcome and kind hospitality. We have had a great time and are already looking forward to our next visit.
Cheshire (2nd to 16th August 2014)
My husband and I have just returned from the most wonderfully relaxing 2 weeks holiday spent at this beautiful villa. The house is beautifully appointed.. The two bedrooms are large and have extremely comfortable king-size beds, each with excellent ensuite facilities. The downstairs toilet and separate utility area are a real bonus too. We loved the mediterranean style garden, where there were different areas to sit out and enjoy a meal or to sit and relax in the sun or shade. The pool was kept immaculately clean and had wonderful views overlooking vineyards. The location is simply stunning and so quiet too. The owners, Mary and Philip were delightfully charming and discreet hosts, who ensured we retained our privacy throughout the two weeks. There were so many places to visit in this area of France but it was always wonderful to return to the luxury and comfort of this villa. The weather was a real bonus too - with lovely warm weather for the duration of our stay. We have returned to the UK feeling relaxed and refreshed, and definitely want to return again to this most beautiful of holiday homes.

We had a wonderful relaxing week in the villa (so well equipped), especially for people like us who like to cook. Thank you for the gorgeous tomatoes from the garden. We appreciated the large salt pool which is a big plus. Having an apéro on the terrace equalled "happiness" This is a place to enjoy AGAIN! A+

We've spent many holidays in France over the last few years. This is by far the best equipped house we've stayed in. The men enjoyed bird watching trips to the Camargue. Uzès market hasn't changed a bit since we last visited 20 years ago. The festival in Avignon gives the town a real buzz. A fantastic, relaxing place to to spend a holiday-many thanks.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely, well equipped villa. Thank you Mary and Philip for making us feel so welcome...the cherries and wine went down a treat,...and thanks for all your help and advice. It's been great fun exploring the local area....some of our favourite places were Goudargues, the potteries at St Quentin and the spectacular scenery at les Concluses. Pont du Gard is a Must!
We would definitely recommend the Pizza Man who visits the village on Wednesday evenings.
We look forward to returning in the future.

Cheshire (3rd to 10th August 2013)
Thank you for a wonderful relaxing week. I don't think we explored beyond a 15 mile radius as we had already seen the sites on previous visits to the area so we were able to relax on the terrace and swim in the pool. We really appreciated the quiet and efficient air-con so we were able to sleep and Matthew enjoyed the TV and WIFI. Thank you also for the flowers and delicious tomatoes on arrival.

We knew the house would be lovely and have not been disappointed. We can but echo previous guests' comments. Having stayed all over the place, we rate both the house and Philip and Mary as No1. We must add that the salt pool was a big plus-I have never swum so much. We did all the usual- Uzès. gorges of the Ardèche, Aigues Mortes, Nimes and paddled in a lukewarm Med. A wonderful Holiday!

We have been lucky enough to have 3 wonderful relaxing weeks weeks enjoying excellent weather and a beautiful 'home'. Philip and Mary have made us feel very welcome and have guided us towards some very interesting sites. The ambiance of the house and the beautiful pool which we have used and enjoyed hugely, all go to making this one of the best places we have visited in 20 years of visiting France. We will certainly return as soon as we can.

What an idyllic setting! We stayed with our two daughters for two weeks in August 2013 and absolutely loved it. It is so peaceful and relaxing here and Philip and Mary are super hosts. The villa itself has everything we could have wanted and on balance we concluded that it is probably the nicest we have found in France. We had fabulous weather the whole time and so were able to have some days just relaxing by the pool with a good book, though it also is ideally located to be able to explore the Gard and further afield. Avignon was lovely and we enjoyed the Arena at Nimes. Market day at Goudargues was great fun and swimming in the Cevennes was a delight. All in all, we can highly recommend this for a holiday choice. We may well book to return in the future.

What can we say that hasn't already been said, with which we wholeheartedly agree.
This beats any previous gites we've stayed in, hands down, and leaves a lot to live up to. We visited many places but were particularly impressed with the Ardeche Gorge and the steam train in the beautiful Cevennes.
Special thanks to Mary and Philip who have been such wonderful hosts

A week in warm sunshine was just what we needed to dry out from the English 'drought'!!! And we couldn't have picked a better place to enjoy this part of France.
The villa has been perfect...everything to the highest standard and that includes the hospitality shown to us by Mary and Philip

Devon (April/May 2012)
We've had a wonderful time in this beautiful, wonderfully equipped gite...the best we've ever been to in France. We really love this unspoilt area of France with its beautiful villages. We enjoyed a lovely mid-day meal in the Place aux Herbes with a small 'ensemble' playing under the leafy shaded plane trees. Thank you so much Mary and Philip for this lovely restful villa. Afortnight to remember

Essex (3rd Sept to 10th Sept 2011)
We have travelled around France for many years and this area is one of the most spectacular for history and scenery. There are so many unmissable sights it's impossible to list them all...Pont du Gard, Pont d'Arc, the gorges and River Gardon etc. Also don't miss Uzes market, take a coffee and enjoy the street musicians! We have to comment on Terres de la Font... by far the best place we have stayed at in 30 odd years. Mary and Philip, excellent hosts and many thanks for making our stay so perfect. For cleanliness and standard of accommodation nothing could be better.

Buckinghamshire (27th Aug to 3rd Sept 2011)
We have found our stay here very comfortable and the house extremely well equipped...and quiet(much appreciated) with no road noise. We were very grateful to our kind hosts for their advice and help but also for the tomatoes, thyme and figs. Many thanks for these treats. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in equipping the house with every item one could possibly need.
Anne & Ted Woodhouse
Wakefield (6th to 20th August 2011)
We can only reiterate and endorse many of the previous comments. After 3 days of travelling, we arrived at the house which was immaculate and prepared with such attention to detail that we felt 'at home' as soon as we stepped through the door. The weather has been superb and we have enjoyed the pool and relaxing in the beautiful garden. Even though there were 4 of us for one of our weeks, there were enough spots to seek solitude if desired. Thank you Mary & Philip for the warm welcome and for being such gracious and charming hosts

What a lovely villa. Quite the most well equipped villa we have been in. Super large beds..very comfortable and 2 en suite___ a luxury we really enjoyed. We brought our own bikes...all those lovely French roads with no one on them. A real treat compared with UK cycling.

Savigné, France (11 to 18 September 2010)
The "little house" has provided a wonderful haven where we have been able to totally relax and recharge after a busy year. We had our first french holiday to this region 30 years ago, so it was wonderful to retrace and find that despite the passing of time, it still holds that peace among the hilltop villages, with the scent of wild thyme and mint on the air. It has been a joy and we can only thank Mary and Philip for providing a stunning location in which to recapture our dreams.

Redon, France (28/08/10 to 11/09/10)
Our second visit to this excellent villa. This is an ideal place to rest and relax, but it is equally good for visiting the many interesting and varied towns and historical sites. One can never be bored in this lovely area. Uzès must rank as one of the most delightful towns in France. The market is one of the best in the area.

A beautiful house, superbly furnished and equipped. We all enjoyed our two week holiday in this lovely region. The pool and the terrace were enjoyed every day along with the local restaurants. We are leaving but would love to return.

Regrettably, we are preparing to leave this wonderful place, where we have spent a completely delightful four weeks. Everything about it, location, appointments, infrastructure... is exceptional, making this one of very best accommodations we've enjoyed in many years of renting in Europe. Mary and Philip have been perfect hosts, discreet, self effacing, yet ready for counsel and advice when asked. The local produce is so wonderful, the markets so intriguing and the kitchen so well equipped that we ate all our evening meals "at home".

Groombridge, Kent (24th to 31st October 2009)
We arrived late (and tired)and after dark and were greeted by a magical sight--the outside garden lighting, a delight we will remember for a long time. The villa is very comfortable, beautifully appointed, fully equipped and lacking nothing (a gourmet chef, which I am not, could cook with ease in the kitchen) and having so many additional thoughtful touches. Many thanks, Mary and Philip.

Once again we've had another wonderful holiday and fully endorse all that previous visitors have said. We would not have thought it possible to improve this excellent accommodation, however.... many thanks Philip and Mary for the air conditioning..... a godsend on a warm night.

Shipston on Stour, Hebden Bridge (21 to 28 June 2008)
However hard we tried, we could find no fault with 'The Little House'... so comfortable and fantastically well equipped.. Every thing has been thought of to make our stay perfect, even a bottle of bubbly on Ronda's birthday! We ate in most nights, but would recommend Delice des Anges in St Quentin-la-Poterie. Beware the plate of 7 desserts...fantastic!

Yet another wonderful holiday at Mary and Philip's.( our third). There are four of us this year. We revisited many areas and found parts we had missed first time around. Must thank Mary and Philip again for their help and hospitality, making this stay another memorable one. A la prochaine!

What more can we do but simply reiterate what has already been said many times before ? An absolutely first class property, with lovely hosts, set in a superb area of France with so much to do within a short drive. We have particularly enjoyed (1) the local potters at St Quentin-la-Poterie together with the Friday morning Market. (2) The Pont du Gard. (3) Avignon- so much to see and do, particularly the Pope's Palace with excellent audio info.(4) The Bambouseraie de Prafrance which is so much more interesting than may at first seem. This trip could be coupled with a steam train journey from Anduze to St Jean du Gard through magnificent countryside.(5) the drive along the Gorges de l'Ardeche. Possibly the best drive in Western Europe.(6) Uzes, a lovely small town to wander around with markets on Wednesday and Saturday.
To finish, quite simply the best place we have stayed in over 20 years of holidaying in France!

We wish we could have stayed longer in this beautiful part of France. Thank you Philip and Mary for making this such a comfortable place to stay and thinking of everything! we have particularly enjoyed walks around the local villages and eating fresh food from the markets. Your terrace is such a lovely place to sit and enjoy a lazy lunch.
